Fuel Africa Expands to Two New Countries and Five New Universities in 2024
Futurize is proud to announce its partnership with the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), and the University of Dodoma in Tanzania and its collaboration with Egypt for Fuel Africa 2024. This collaboration aims to foster a shared ambition to reach thousands of students and help them develop the skills and mindset necessary to thrive in their professional careers and as entrepreneurs.
LONDON, Mar 8., 2024 - In its unwavering commitment to cultivating new-age thinking and entrepreneurship among Africa's youth, Fuel Africa 2024, Futurize’s flagship innovation program, extends its reach into two new African nations: Tanzania and Egypt. This strategic move is underpinned by Futurize’s MoU partnership with esteemed educational institutions in the African continent: the University of Cape Town in South Africa, Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in Tanzania, and the University of Dodoma in Tanzania.
In its third edition, Fuel Africa 2024 is set to empower a growing cohort of thousands of students with the requisite skills, mindset, and networks to innovate and establish ventures that promote sustainable development and harness advanced technologies. The program, scheduled from March 20th to April 3rd, 2024, offers participants support, mentorship, and immersive learning experiences, fostering solutions to Africa’s foremost challenges, particularly in healthcare access, early detection of non-communicable diseases, and climate change mitigation.
In addition, new collaborations with two more universities in Rwanda (University of Global Health Equity and Carnegie Mellon University Africa) signify a monumental step towards broadening the program's reach and impact. These partnerships aim to foster a shared goal to provide a robust platform for students to engage in practical learning experiences and join a community that encourages innovation and critical thinking to become catalysts for positive change. Ventures born out of the program will play a key role in shaping the continent's future and propelling its economic growth. Futurize will offer the most promising teams the opportunity to apply for their incubator program to accelerate their idea and build a minimum viable product (MVP).
As we approach the program's launch, we look forward to uncovering the impactful ventures our young changemakers will conceptualize. Fuel Africa 2024 sets the stage for future program co-creation and collaboration opportunities across Africa, creating a long-standing partnership to promote youth-driven entrepreneurship.
The Vice Chancellor of MUHAS says, “I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the collaboration with Fuel Africa in implementing the virtual entrepreneurship program for our youth. As Vice Chancellor, it brings me immense joy to witness the university taking steps to empower our students through innovative initiatives like this. At Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), we believe in the transformative potential of entrepreneurship to shape the future, and we are confident that Futurize shares this vision. We believe that by equipping our youth with entrepreneurial skills, we are not only preparing them for personal success but also contributing to the economic development of our community and beyond. It is our expectation that the program will also contribute to the broader goals of fostering innovation and cultivating a culture of entrepreneurship within our academic community. The Fuel Africa program aligns seamlessly with our university’s mission to prepare the next generation of leaders who will address the pressing challenges facing our continent.”
Nadia Waggie, Head: Sustainability & Impact (Careers) at UCT, says, “Through the collaborative efforts of the Fuel Africa Programme, UCT and Futurize are paving the way for a new era of entrepreneurship in Africa. This collaboration aims to not only strengthen entrepreneurial initiatives across the continent but also to foster enduring relationships with universities and their vibrant student communities. Together, we are building a foundation for sustainable growth and innovation in the entrepreneurial landscape of Africa.”
